I have listed below ideas for follow up work and activities including some that are useful in multi-faith teaching. (See also Jewish Artefacts and How to Use Them).
Some of these are specific to a topic or festival.
These ideas can all be modified according to age and ability.
Card Making (Festivals, Life Cycle Events) – these can be used to promote multiculturalism, see below.
‘Pretend’ Challah -Make out of clay and varnish.
Challah Cloth – Design and make a paper or fabric Challah cloth. Decorate with Jewish symbols.
Chanucah Candles – Make from plasticine or playdo.
Chanuciah – Make from clay, bottle tops, egg boxes etc.
Collages – For example, Jewish symbols, Torah stories etc.
Cooking – For example, making and plaiting of Challah, Festival foods etc. (See Traditional Festival Recipes)
Cut out 2 ‘Tablets of Stone’ from cardboard and write the Ten Commandments.
Design and make Jewish Artefacts
Design and make a Holy Ark – For example, customise a bedside cabinet.
Drama – For example, role playing of Torah and Festival stories.
Dreidel ( Spinning Top) for Chanucah. Cut out template. Play the game using buttons, raisins or sweets.
Experience a Jewish Visitor
Exploring Jewish Artefacts
Find Food labelled as Kosher ( eg: ‘K’ Label in supermarket).
Invent a personal set of Ten Commandments or an Eleventh Commandment
Kiddish Cup – Make a model from clay or scrunched up silver foil.
Kippah (Skull cap) -Cut out a circle approximately 18 cms. Decorate with Jewish symbols. Cut a slit to the centre and staple or fasten with sellotape.

Make a Havdalah Candle – Draw and cut out 2 of the templates below on thin card. Colour and plait.
Make Matzah – See Traditional Jewish Recipes
Make a Matzah Cloth – Cut out 3 large circles of embossed white fabric. Decorate with Passover symbols or the Star of David. Sew circles together two thirds of the way around.
Make a Mezzuzah ( Prayer box on the door) -Print out template, colour and cut out. Make it into a box fastened with sellotape or glue and insert either the Shema prayer or a personal prayer.
Make Purim Fancy Dress Costumes, Greggors, Masks and Puppets
Greggor ( Noisemaker ) – Jar filled with dried beans or two paper plates decorated with the characters, filled with beans and stapled together.
Purim Masks
Purim Puppets – Decorate a paper plate with a character from the story. (See Jewish Festival Stories). Attach a stick behind it and cover the stick with fabric to look like the gown (and cover the hand!).
Make a Seder Plate – Use a paper plate and draw on the symbolic foods or make out of tissue paper.Use the example below as a guide.
Make a miniature Shabbat Table
Make a Shofar (Ram’s Horn) – Use a child’s party blower.
Make Silver Candlesticks – Mould from clay or foil.
Make a Simchat Torah flag
Make a Spice Box – Stud an orange with cloves or make a cube out of thick paper, fill with powdered mixed spices wrapped in a twist of tissue paper.
Make a miniature Succah in a shoebox or make from Lego!
Make a miniature Synagogue in a shoebox
Make a model Torah scroll – Use parchment type paper and inscribe it with a personal set of commandments. Make a fabric mantle, a Yad made from silver foil or clay etc.
